We’re looking for several models for future projects as well as for our Glam Parties that are held once a month. We would like to have a group of go to models for our artistic, editorial and commercial shoots. Also for clients who don’t have access to models. The glam party is a showcase of local businesses and vendors. There will be runways shows etc. This is the first of many events. The casting will also be for our Dallas Model Guild that will be a go to group of models, photogs, etc to expand the industry here in Dallas. Dreamer

I thoroughly believe in dreaming, but you still have to work an everyday job until you get that dream. I don’t understand being 40 years old and don’t even have a roof over your head to call your own, even a rental…as long as you have a place to lay your head at night and call your own.

Recently I’ve realized I was setting my dreams aside…not for any particular person or reason simply because life gets going and I forgot to put myself first. We all do it…eventually.

So today I say DARE TO DREAM. Its what makes each of us special and different…our hopes and dreams. Maybe if we do we can make this world a more beautiful place.

“You’re friends are very ‘active’…” response to a comment made about my first blog.

So my reaction to the comment “You’re friends must be very ‘active’…” FUCK YOU…and I say that in the nicest way possible. HIV isn’t choosy or picky or only goes after “active” individuals; it hunts down monogamous adults, singles, gays, senior citizens, blacks, whites, and everyone in between. It only takes ONE time to be infected; you could be married and contract it from your husband if he had cheated. You can get it from your fuck buddy that you’ve slept with for the last ten years off and on. You can get it from that one night stand you had last Friday. Why is it that my friends must be “active” but it could never happen to you? It can’t happen to you because you go to church every Sunday?  Is it because you’re a business professional with a college degree and 2.5 children and a white picket fence? People need to stop judging and start talking, THAT’S…MY…POINT. We pretend that HIV doesn’t exist and it clearly does, there are approximately 1.2 million people in the US who are living with HIV/AIDS and approx 600,000 who have already died and that is only since 1981. On average about 50,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in the United States alone and those are the people that actually go to the doctor or clinic or hospital and get tested…most of the time they’re already showing symptoms which means they may already have full blown AIDS and it could have already compromised their immune system so much they may not be able to get somewhat healthy again.

Apparently people don’t realize that HIV is very real, like someone said to me “it’s not like the 80’s where everyone you knew was dropping like flies” because now there are people living for 20 to 30 years with minor sympton but still very infected. Medication keeps them going and with the lack of funding soon that will not be the case and then the numbers could rise all over again.

Sadly, there are states that no longer offer sex education to students rather they push the idea of abstinence to children. Parents who once relied on the schools now may need have that “birds and the bees” talk but usually focus on pregnancy and herpes and the less scary STD’s like syphilis and gonorrhea. Parents may be as an uneducated as their children, even our grandparents are having sex in assisted living communities and are getting HIV, syphilis and other sexually transmitted diseases. Yes I said it, OUR grandparents…they didn’t have HIV when they were young, they were already raising they’re children, living their lives and working to put the food on the table in the 80’s. But sadly they are also a generation that is being affected just like the college students who were born after the AIDS epidemic became the “norm”.

I’m not writing this to be hurtful; I’m writing this because I’m tired of the dumb remarks and the stupidity that surrounds me when it comes to such an important issue as HIV. Let me just say to all who have never seen HIV in person, I never wish for you to see a loved one die slowly, painfully and all alone. I hope you take the time to educate yourself and everyone around you because HIV doesn’t care if you have a bachelor’s degree.
